Who is looking forward to Valentine’s day?? I am! Scott and I have big plans. We are going to get our DIY on all day long!
Sounds like fun! Right? We are working on a major construction project and we enjoy working together, so I really am looking forward to having a day set aside for it!
However, we are also planning a delicious Valentine’s dinner for after the kids go to bed… And they are going to bed really early on Valentine’s day (like maybe 6:00). It will be nice to have a special dinner without them!
This has basically become our tradition since having children. We sit down together and plan out a delicious menu that we will make together at home after the kids go to bed. That way our attention can be focused on us!
Hopefully we’ll talk about something other than the kids, too!
It’s so much better than going out because there aren’t the distractions of all the other people, plus it’s a lot less expensive. Maybe someday we’ll go out, but for now, I love cooking in the kitchen with Scott!
And it’s super easy to do! I gathered a ton of ideas for making Valentine’s dinner at home on The Dating Divas. It is full of clever ways to make the at home dinner date a success!
But today I just wanted to share how we are making our Valentine’s dinner a fun, special and romantic evening for very little!
I picked up some white heart doilies and sparkly pink hearts at the dollar store. The plates are our new special date night plates, also found at the dollar store!!
Creating a Menu…
This part is so fun and exciting. This year Scott was super helpful coming up with the menu… but he was totally thoughtful and chose a lot of my favorite things! Nice, huh?
Setting the Table…
I definitely think taking the time to make it a special setting makes dinner all that more exciting!
Creating a Romantic Atmosphere…
The lights and heart banner make it a lot more special… As do the flowers and special cupcake holders made from old glasses and kisses!
The cute cups will be featuring our Triple Chocolate Cheesecakes on Valentine’s day! I thought it was a fun way to add decor while also having some function. For now, you’ll just have to imagine the pretty Cheesecakes sitting on top of the kisses-filled glasses!
I do love the fact that there is a holiday that gives us the excuse to focus just on us! Not that we need and excuse, but it certainly helps!
I hope you are planning a special night with your loved one! Happy Valentine’s Day!!
If you are, you might want to check out this printable menu that is FREE when you sign up for my newsletter! This printable menu could be used for any special night… As it’s a “Dinner for 2” menu!
