This is my first time sharing a Green Smoothie and I’m super excited. Green Smoothies are actually a huge part of our lives and are one of the best ways to sneak in some vital nutrients for myself and my kids.
On days that I am feeling down or I have zero energy, I choose this smoothie for breakfast! It helps give a little kick-start to my day.
I officially started drinking green smoothies a year ago, after my mom got me a decent Blendtec and my sister-in-law introduced me to Simple Green Smoothies. I love all the delicious recipes they have, but even more than that, I love that they teach you the tools to create your own fabulous smoothies.
Once you have the technique down and know the proportions of each element–liquid base, fruits and leafy greens. You can pretty much make any type of smoothie you want. Some you will definitely like more than others.
Since we like to experiment, we’ve created a few of our own recipes. Plus, our kids love them so much, we have to increase the proportions a little.
Lanae and Owen drink as much as Scott and I do. It’s crazy!!!
I feel good about providing needed calcium, iron and other vitamins into our diets. I love that green smoothies are an easy and delicious way to do that!
- 3 cups orange juice
- 2½ cups packed spinach
- 2 bananas
- ½-3/4 cup frozen mango
- ½-3/4 cup frozen pineapple
- Blend orange juice and spinach until thoroughly blended (no big green leafy chunks).
- Add bananas and frozen fruit. Blend thorough again until there are no frozen chunks.
- Pour into glasses and add straws!
Now I would suggest using a really good blender, we use a Blendtec. If you don’t have a have a powerful blender, then you may need to blend extra long to get it smooth without any chunks.
