Gingerbread icing… or the perfect graham cracker village icing! This stuff is sticky and makes it possible to build almost anything.
I have to confess that I get a little lost in my creativity and drown out the screaming children who need to go to bed and almost every other worry when I get building a graham cracker village.
It may be weird, but I find it so relaxing and exciting all at the same time.
But the worst thing ever is trying to build something and having it fall apart because your glue is not working.
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp Wilton meringue powder
- 5-6 tbsp water
- Beat all ingredients until stiff peaks form about 7-10 minutes. If you want your icing to be thinner so that you can make icicles then just add a bit more water. Add it very slowly so that you don't make it too thin on accident!
This recipe is the best for detailed gingerbread crafting! The special ingredient that makes it amazing is Meringue powder. It can sometimes be hard to find, so I like to order it online! Thank you Amazon!
The thick icing makes a great ground cover and works so well for intense projects like carousels! If you thin it down a bit, then it is amazing for beautiful icicles and small details.
We just spoon the icing into a ziploc bag and cut off a small corner. Then make sure the other end is sealed so it doesn’t spill out!
Now go grab some candy and get building!
