Christmas is all about family time. There are so many fun traditions that bring us close together and help us feel the holiday spirit!
Gingerbread houses, baking cookies, hot cocoa bars and dance parties while listening to Christmas songs!
There are also parties and church gatherings, caroling and giving gifts to friends and neighbors…
The list goes on!
But my favorite traditions are the ones that make you stop and remember the true meaning of Christmas.
Those moments that help the little child understand that Christmas is a special day, “Christ’s birthday.”
And that Christmas means… More Christ!
That’s what we want our kids to remember.
I love the spiritual traditions like acting out the nativity and reading stories about the shepherds in the fields and the angels singing “glory!”
This is one of my all time favorite Christmas stories: [Walmart http://www.walmart.com/ip/The-Little-Shepherd-s-Christmas/16613760 The Little Shepherd’s Christmas]
This year we are adding a very special tradition called “My Gift to Jesus.” It is his “birth” day after all.
I have seen this done many ways, but as a family we are each going to choose one thing that we can give to Jesus this year to help us become more Christlike.
I designed this pretty little envelope and some special notecards for us all to record our gift and place in the envelope by Christmas Day.
We have decided that we will share our gifts to help us be more accountable, but they could definitely be kept private and personal.
I love how “My Gift to Jesus” printables turned out and so I thought I would share.
