DIY ANTLER STRING ART

Well…I’m back! And I come with another little delicious DIY for you. The oh-so fabulous…string art!

Decorating can sometimes be a challenge! I used to have a pretty hard time making decisions (what woman doesn’t, am I right?) I would be walking aimlessly around a HomeGoods, literally in circles, not having the slightest clue what I even wanted for my rooms. I needed focus! 
But now it has become so much easier since my sister Brittany shared with me her decorating trick!! I think of it as a simple interior attacking strategy. And here it is.
Every home has a certain essence about it. And in order to steer your home’s essence in the direction you want it, you need words!
Pick a handful of describing words that you want your home to radiate. Some examples could be vibrant, delicate, comfortable, clean, exotic, etc. I generally choose my words based on how I want to feel in my home. Mine are soft, eye catching, and rustic. After all, don’t you want to decorate with things that make you feel happy??
I hope this home decorating advice helps anyone who is struggling to find a focus in their home. It keeps me feeling in control and confident in my decorating! Power to you my interior peeps! Now, lets get started on another fun DIY!
This project totally fit into my selection of words I wanted my home to present. We got some rustic feelin’ going on here right?!
You can basically do any silhouette with string art. I wanted antlers to go with the wood background, but trust me it is not limited to that!
What You Need:
 
Wood board (you can buy plain wood boards cut to any length at your local hardware store)
Hammer
String
#18×5/8 inch pack of nails
Tape
Step 1: Find and print your silhouette! I recommend using Google image search to find your chosen silhouette.
Step 2: Lay the silhouette where you want it to be nailed in. Proceed to tape the silhouette to the board.
Step 3: Outline your silhouette with nails. I also lined the interior lines with nails so that I could highlight them. After you have all your nails in remove the paper. You may need to use tweezers for the small pieces that get stuck.
Step 4: Wrap your string around the nails however you please! If you can’t remember what its supposed to look like now that you have removed the paper, print off another copy for reference.
*note: I wanted the outline of the silhouette to have hard lines (which means we wrapped more string around it) so you could see and make out the interior parts of the antlers. I recommend it for other silhouettes with overlapping lines!

I love love looooove this DIY! It was just plain fun and easy. Plus it’s such a different and stunning feature in the room! It’s seriously so cool.

    I love the antler string art! So unique, and it is rustic, but soft. I love the idea of coming up with words that describe how you want your house to feel and then decorate around those feelings. I would have never thought of that, but it makes sense. I’ll have to evaluate what I’ve got and chuck those things that don’t do what I want. Then bring in new pieces. My favorite ones are the ones I’ve made. I’ve been wanting to do string art, but now I really have to!
