I’m really excited about our new family Valentine’s tradition! We are putting together the perfect Valentine’s dinner for kids… My husband and I brainstormed a simple hearty menu for our Cupid’s Cafe and then we turned it into a fun game.
Lanae has literally been counting down the days to Valentine’s day, so we decided to start a new tradition – Cupid’s Cafe. She’s beyond excited. It’s so cute and funny… She’s constantly saying, “Guess what!? Valentine’s day is in 5 days… 2 days… 1 day!” I don’t know where she’s getting all this excitement from. I did put together a cute Valentine’s countdown from The Dating Divas for Scott that started on the first and she’s been excited for Scott to open his love notes and gifts every day! That might be why she’s looking forward to V-day this year. I love kids!! Ha ha!
This is the first year we are putting a little extra effort into Valentine’s day for the kids. I normally would just get them some cute and simple gift and make a special heart-shaped breakfast and call it a day. Not this year!! I made a little Cupid’s Cafe menu and game using a dice with all the menu items!
Here’s how the dinner and game work – prep all the menu items so that they’re ready to go. Then have the kids roll the dice to determine which item they get to eat first. They eat whatever they roll. After they finish that dish, they get to roll again! There are 5 menu items, but on 1 side of the dice, there is a silly task. If they get the silly task, then they have to do something before they can roll the dice again. You can decide beforehand what kind of tasks you want the kids to do, or be spontaneous and make them up on the spot.
The menu printables are simple enough that you can choose whatever dish you want that fits. Our menu includes:
- mini pizzas shaped like hearts, of course
- pink fruit salad – heart-shaped watermelon, raspberries, and grapes
- love potion – strawberry lemonade and sprite with heart shaped strawberries
- veggie plate – heart-shaped cucumbers and cherry tomatoes
- mini treat – heart-shaped rice Krispie treats, dipped in chocolate and Valentine’s sprinkles
Now I’m excited to surprise the kiddos with this fun Valentine’s dinner!! {More pictures to come.} Don’t forget to grab your free Cupid’s Cafe menu and dice printables here! Happy Valentine’s Day!!
