I love apple pie. But making pie is a lot of work! So sometimes it is nice to be able to just throw together some delicious Apple Pie Turnovers really quick and enjoy them right out of the oven.
These turnovers are made with puff pastry dough, which is the secret to why they are so easy! I love how puff pastry dough–for lack of better words–puffs up! Ha ha!
After throwing together the apple pie filling mixture, roll out the dough, cut into squares, fill, seal and bake!! Sounds easy, right?
The smell of these babies is absolutely divine and the drippy glaze that you pour over the top just sends this treat over the edge.
Word of warning: These are best warm, right out of the oven! So if you are making them for company, keep that in mind…
- 1 box puff pastry (thawed)
- 3 medium green apples
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- ⅛ tsp cloves
- For the Glaze
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- 2 Tbsp milk
- dash of vanilla
- Peel apples and throw them into a food processor. Pulse until the apples are in small pieces... but not too small!
- In a bowl, mix together apples, sugar, flour, lemon juice and spices.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry and cut into 9 squares.
- On each square, place a heaping tablespoon of apple pie mixture.
- Wet the edges of the puff pastry with water and fold over. Using a fork, press edges together so that they seal.
- Bake at 375 for about 12-15 minutes. Or until fully puffed and golden brown on top.
- While baking, whisk together the glaze by combining all the ingredients in a bowl. Add more liquid if you would like it runnier and more powdered sugar if you want to thicken it up.
- After the turnovers have cooled for about 5-10 minutes, drizzle the glaze over the top.
- Eat up, immediately! And enjoy!
Don’t these look sooooo yummy?? They are healthy too… because of the apples, right?

Can these be prepped ahead of time and baked after dinner?
Carisa says
Yes!! You would definitely want to keep them covered after they are prepped and waiting so that they don’t dry out. But that should work!!
