We love nuts around here! Seriously, they are so good for you and we have them for snacks all the time.
I figured that N is for Nuts week would be the perfect time to talk about where nuts come from and teach about all kinds of different nuts.
Scott put together another stellar Powerpoint that had some cute little squirrels hiding nuts for the Winter. He does such a good job finding pictures that are exciting for the kids!
We talked about nuts growing on trees and in the ground. Plus, all the great things that we get from nuts, like Peanut Butter.
Then we took a big bag of nuts and talked about all the different kinds of nuts.
After that, I let Lanae explore a little bit and just get used to the different kinds of nuts. I gave her a couple different bowls that she could sort the nuts into.
She loved being able to have the freedom to sort for a while and then I asked her to find specific kinds of nuts and we talked about their shape, texture, etc.
And of course, we had to break the nuts open and taste them!
The kids also loved helping me make Cinnamon Nuts to snack on.
And that was it for Nut Week!!
