I’m rubbing off on my kids. They are becoming craft addicts. We made these Heart Fingerprint ornaments out of model magic clay!
We love this model magic clay because it is so easy to work with. And this heart fingerprint project was done almost completely by the kids… I love projects that they can take ownership of! So do they!!!
We decided to make a couple of these pretty little heart fingerprint ornaments and use them to attach to Valentine’s gifts! But they could also be used to just hang on the kid’s walls or even on a kid’s Christmas tree! So fun!
The kids will be picking out a sweet treat for their daddy and filling up a jar, then they will attach their cute little heart fingerprints! Adorable, right?
There are a few steps involved, but they are all very simple!
First grab your model magic clay and roll it out! Make sure it’s a consistent thickness all the way across. We went for about 1/4 inch thick.
Then find a shape that you want and cut it out. For clean lines press really hard and then pull the outside off before removing the cookie cutter.
Grab a straw and press down to make a little hole to tie a string through later!
Then have the kids press one finger at a time in to make a heart. This part you might want to help them with so that they get it in the right spot and the right amount of pressure!
Let them sit for at least 72 hours to dry out. They will still be pretty flexible, but now they are all dried out and ready to paint!
This is the best part. Choose a color and paint all around the outside of the heart. This makes the fingerprints really pop!
Again let it dry… grab some treats, fill a jar and attach it with some string.
