This is my favorite homemade bread recipe and it is 100% Wheat Bread!
Homemade bread is fantastic! I love how light and fluffy it is… and especially love eating a warm slice right out of the oven.
However it can also be a bit scary if you have never made it before. This is a great beginner recipe because it is very easy to make and you only have to let it rise once!
Wheat bread is also super good for you… so spread some butter and jam on it and enjoy it!
This recipe can make 4 loaves, but I like to make two big loaves and then a bunch of little rolls. These are great for grab and go situations and the kids actually like to eat rolls way more than slices of bread. I can’t figure out why… maybe because they feel more independent when they can go grab a roll by themselves??
It doesn’t really matter WHY they like it, I guess! But I’m glad they do!
- ⅔ cups honey
- ⅔ cups oil
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 5 cups hot water
- ⅓ cup wheat gluten
- 3 Tbsp. yeast
- 10 cups flour
- Add first five ingredients together and begin to mix.
- While mixer is mixing add the yeast.
- Begin to add the flour, add until the dough does not stick to the sides.
- Knead for 6 minutes in your mixer.
- Form into 4 loaves and let rise in pans.
- Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes. Remove from pan and let cool!
