Um… Hello!! It’s been forever since we started this project. And I literally thought that we could finish it in a month.
Well, it turns out that building a DIY platform bed takes a looong time. Especially if you can only really work on it on Saturdays… and some of your Saturdays get filled up with other activities or ruined by bad weather.
That’s life!
I am just super grateful that we were able to finish this beauty up before baby boy came!
Now I walk into our Master Bedroom and for the first time in our 5 and a 1/2 years of marriage, it feels like a breath of fresh air.
Okay. I’m exaggerating. But… it does feel like home.
We are still working on a couple of minor projects and finishing touches… like fun shelves for the wall and refinishing our beautiful wood rocking chair and treasure chest!
But we have finished a bunch of projects that have been on our list for well over a year, including bright pillows and a cushion for the rocking chair. I love the pop of goldenrod!!
Plus, we finally put together our collage wall above our bed!!
And these beautiful side tables that we designed ourselves with the scraps from our platform bed! They match perfectly and I love them!
If you want to build this beautiful platform bed, check out the plans we used here.
We did do a few things differently from the plans, including using a maple instead of oak plywood just to save a few pennies!
We finished our platform bed frame with one light coat of Rustoleum’s Weathered Grey Stain from Lowe’s and then a couple coats of Polyurethane.

Oh my goodness this is beautiful! I love it so much! I love all the shelving at the bottom, and it just looks incredible! Your room is amazing, and I am for sure jealous. And it is my silly dream to one day have side tables for our bed. A girl can dream! Thanks for the inspiration! I’m glad it’s exactly what you wanted!

Thanks Chelsea!! It was a HUGE project and there is still so much more I’d like to do. But it can wait! I have been dreaming of side tables for a while… I hope you get your dream soon 🙂
