I love simple, inexpensive and beautiful decor. My husband is still a student in school and we are raising a family on a student’s stipend… which is hard to do! But I still want my family to be able to create beautiful memories and feel the spirit of Christmas!
That’s why last year when I saw these GIANT pinecones out on the hill by our apartment in Raleigh, Lanae and I had to go out and collect some. This picture is from last year… She has grown so much in just one year! I can’t even believe it!
I washed them and cleaned all the spider webs off and let them dry… then I put them in storage so that I could make pretty pinecones for Christmas!!
The craft is super easy… pick up some metallic spray paint ($3) and if you want some glitter spray paint ($7). Set out the pinecones and protect your surroundings so you don’t permanently spray your table a metallic silver!
Then spray away!!! I sprayed mine all different because I wanted a variety of pinecones. Some I coated thoroughly with the metallic silver. Some I just sprayed lightly with the silver and then sprayed with glitter. Some I just did glitter and others I sprayed thoroughly with both! So that they would shimmer and shine in the lights!
My husband loves the ones that are just dusted with the metallic and then have the glitter over the top… I love the ones that are super metallic and also glittery.
I love that there are so many ways to use pinecones to just add a little bit of pizzaz around the house.
Here are some ways we used these pretty metallic pinecones for Christmas decor around our home this year…
As a centerpiece on our dinner table. I love lighting the candle while prepping for dinner. It makes it seem so warm, rich and cheery!
As accents in the garland on our mantle…
Same idea as above, pinecones and garland accent our beautiful Nativity.
I love how pretty the pinecones are and even use them to stand alone on our table in the front room.
And last but not least, we used these pinecones in our Winter Wreath as well!
We are so grateful for all the amazing Christmas decor we have. As we were pulling all of our stuff out we realized that almost everything is a gift from Grandparents, parents and my students when I was teaching! I love how everyone has really helped us to create a peaceful and beautifully simple home all decked out for Christmas!
